DRINKING POOP WATER

WOW … we call drinking “poop-water”…high tech and progress … ?

Local newspaper headline … CALIFORNIA SEWAGE TREATMETN PLANT GETS HIGH-TECH SYSTEM ….

The technology to “treat” sewage to an industry acceptable “defined” level enabling it to be labeled “potable” (drinking) water has existed for many years. In fact one of the first publicly owned systems producing this quality of effluent was installed at Lake Tahoe over 20 years ago. Interestingly, the effluent from this Lake Tahoe facility has not been consumed by the public, rather it was piped many miles away to form a man made impoundment.

In the intervening 20 years many thousands of new chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals have been discovered, developed, consumed and summarily dumped down our collective drain. Certainly those accountable and responsible for delivering “safe” drinking water to you and me have tested for all these new ingredients, haven’t they…? Would you be at all surprised to learn there is absolutely NO requirement for these water purveyors to test for the vast majority of residuals from these sources…? Moreover the test parameters and protocols are all conveniently contrived in conference principally in consort with the folks who actually manufacture these products. Convenient, isn’t it, when you’re able to be judge, jury and prosecutor and with impunity summarily declare your product – “safe.” And for that “we” – that’s you and me – get to pick up the tab for the whole enchilada, the testing as well as the treatment for the diseases and illness which befall mankind and our earth’s ecosystem in the aftermath of consuming this untested “poop-water.”

And “we” call this “high-tech” and progress … ?
