verde river - what am I missing
The Verde River Springs are considered the source of the Verde River. In a reach of about one mile, which is now owned by both The Nature Conservancy and the Arizona Game and Fish Department, the rive flow grows from .4 CFS to 19 CFS.
Assuming I comprehend the essence of this attached article it certainly provides sufficient grounds to question the sanctimonious position of SRP that SRP solely owns the rights to all of the water in the Verde River.
This article which appears in the Thursday issue of the Verde News, authored by Steve Ayers puts, from my perspective, a different light on SRP’s water claim to the Verde River.
Or what am I missing…?
Or merely because some self righteous quasi-public-private entity claims ownership it is assumed “we” should meekly bow our heads and silently acquiesce to their apparent unsubstantiated claim…?
I don’t know about you, but I sure want to know how strong the ownership positions are of the Nature Conservancy and the Az Fish and Game are respecting the water rights they own…?
I admit I am a bit troubled as the Az Fish and Game is easily maneuvered by “interests” not always with long term visions.
It would appear there may well be a crack in the dike and it may well be timely for “us” – that’s you and me – to make the time to determine for ourselves what the disposition of the Verde River water will actually be..?
