VICIOUS ELECTION CYCLE

Though comical it speaks volumes about how “we” – that’s you and me – choose those … “to serve and to protect” … our interests…?

Vicious has become the election cycle game we play. The only entitlement we realistically have is “we” are unquestioningly entitled to elect politicians who unconditionally guarantee and entitle us to the most.

In November 2008 the vast majority of Americans will go to the pools and will vote against their own self interests once again, re-electing in most cases the same scoundrels who created this plague in the first place.

And the beauty of this all, is that November is so far away, these scoundrels can today do and say anything, guarantee and warranty all our desires for this and that. When the first Tuesday of November comes secure are they, forgot have we, what we had for dinner on that prior Saturday night. Up to the very minute before we vote our attention they attempt to command, remember me, I promise you, I guarantee that.

With curtain drawn on that Diebold voting machine we cast secretly our ballot. Believe this too, at your own peril. Know as quickly as that handle you pull your votes to the ethers go, from there, to where they say they should, you’re none the wiser. To whom do you turn to appeal these felonious results…? The US Supreme Court, I think not.

Juxtaposed on this comic relief are the voting beggars we have become. Promise me and I’ll vote for you and hold you not responsibly. Disillusioned, disappointed, minimized, traumatized, belittled, demeaned from all the begging we have done. When look into a mirror and our own reflection see, he or she can not be accountable, responsible, the one. NO, no, no, it’s them, they’re the ones, hold them accountable, responsible, not me.

And then “we” wonder why in our name they permitted Abu Ghraib and an American corporate gulag system for sale to the highest bidder…?

Begging from them they quickly learn to put “spin” on whatever message in the moment serves them, best. After all we’ll forget in the next moment any message they glean.

This beggar’s mode is an ironic twist of fate for us. Not long ago from them we demanded and held them accountable, responsible honestly … to serve and to protect … us, not them. The tables have turned and now they demand, command, prosecute all within their reach, vying to opt out of their control.

Look in the mirror, remember well whose face you see, hold him, her solely accountable, responsible, too. Until you and I choose to take command, demand and accept only the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth from them, we neither can nor should expect any positive change.
