In the face of national, state and local economy where Mayor “Flash” Gordon and his “ostrich” counsel weakly curtail the hours at public swimming pools, slash the hours public libraries are open, bare to the bone all public parks, etc. it is difficult to see what financial benefits the citizens of the City of Phoenix can expect from this marvelous new travel destination.

Is Mayor “Flash” suggesting these folks from Dubai will choose to spend their time and money in downtown Phoenix or might they be far more inclined to partake of some luxurious resort in Scottsdale…? One might also ask, what, if any financial inducement did Phoenix promise to Dubai for this dubious mode of travel…?

Let’s see our economy in Arizona is based solely on the building of homes and it’s in the toilet, construction is in the doldrums, our state and city each face significant budget shortfalls, yea, now it the time to induce Phoenicians to fly to Dubai.

Hey, gas is cheap, there, so what’s stopping us…?
