CLEARING THE TRAIN WRECK

The smoke, dust and debris following the wreck on Tuesday is beginning to clear and one can almost begin to see light at the end of the tunnel of FEAR orchestrated principally by the formerly Republican controlled Administration and Congress.

Celebration is premature as the immediate task asks that together we collectively roll up our sleeves, dig in and remove the debris preventing our nation from being an “honest” leader. There is much track to repair as well as new track to be laid as the course of our nation over these past six years has resulted in world wide disillusionment and where our word as a county resonates as carrying no truth.

The actions to our President in the political arena since the election on Tuesday are “knee-jerk-reactions” designed as “eleventh-hour” attempts to placate and keep the howling wolves at bay a bit longer. The FEAR our President and his Administration chose to utilize to lead our nation now permeates that same inner sanctum. One should not be surprised to see any number of current Cabinet Secretary Members desert like rats abandoning a sinking ship.

In Arizona, Janet Napolitano was re-elected Governor and hailed by local press as being handed a mandate. If you see your re-election as a mandate, Governor, one can only hope you spent it wisely. While neither you nor any of your staff appear willing to reply or enter into any meaningful dialogue with the common citizen, such as me, I invite you to make the time to look closely at the growing disapproval your citizens have for the manner in which you and your department of water resources and department of environmental quality are dealing with issues relating to our air and our water. Your advisors and commissions are loaded with representatives from “big” business, “big” developers, “big” utilities, such as APS, SRP, CAP, “corporate” farming, the mines, and “big” cities. Deliberately excluded is “Joe and Jane Average Arizona Working Citizen.” Why is their voice excluded..? It may come as a bit of a surprise, Governor, but “Joe and Jane Average Arizona Working Citizen” are very, very much aware of the debacle your ADWR and ADEQ have made and are making to our AIR and to our WATER. Heed well the train wreck experienced by others in the recent election as “Joe and Jane Average Arizona Working Citizen” are growing increasingly impatience and intolerant with your administration’s air and water debacle. You need only review the video of the recent ADEQ pubic hearing in Sedona on Bella Terra to get a feel for the latent distrust of your citizens. Spend your mandate wisely, Governor.

Clearing a train wreck is an exercise in patience requires attention to details as well as an overall plan of how to avoid such an entanglement in the future. Clearing a train wreck entails the cooperative time, talent and energy of many. Clearing a train wreck is but the first step in a process leading to new track being laid and bolstering the foundation of the remaining track. Our nation and our state are emerging from the train wreck on Tuesday let us need well the lessons we learned and preventing formation of policies, positions and practices which lead to this debacle. To heed not is to repeat this history.
