we choose to reward greed

Do I understand this correctly, USA Today, reported on 2/23/06, that the average family income in the USA dropped 2.3%, but “we’ – that’s you and me – feel that a CEO should be paid on the average more than one million dollars per year . . . ?

CEO’s, baseball players, basketball players, football players, professional golfers, pro-hockey players, actors and many politicians are paid many hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars per year more than “we” – that’s you and me – choose to pay those who educate our children – teachers – why is that … ?

Those who head both the public and private sector in the education field – administrators – are paid significantly greater salaries and benefits than “we” choose to pay those who educate our children – teachers – why is that…?

Those “we” elect “to serve” us, we pay significantly greater salaries than “we” choose to pay those who educate our children – teachers – why is that…?

Many CEO’s lead “for-profit” enterprises which utilize with impunity the infrastructure “we” provide and pay for, and in turn reward us by polluting and contaminating our air and our water and then defy us to take any punitive action against their egregious activity. We reward their climb to the top of the pile, oblivious to the backs of those they crushed to reach their vaunted pinnacle, by naming them men and women of the year and providing them virtually unlimited accolades of their accomplishments.
