accountability is personal

The cartoon …Bizarro .. recently had one I though most worth of note and comment. It showed Mom and Dad tied up in rope on chairs back to back, while Junior watches TV or plays a video game… the caption notes … “Mommy and Daddy are very disappointed in you..! We thought your nanny raised you better than this…!

We live in an era where we have chosen to give control of everything in our lives to – them – you know of whom I am speaking of…?

It’s not just our kids they control and manipulate; it’s us too in so many, many ways, increasingly so every day.

The TV, we’ve allowed to rule, to educate, to raise our children, provide comfort to us to placate, pacify and satiate all our needs.

And in the next breath we all wonder why … the Columbine’s occur… or the more recent shooting and killing on college campuses…?

Accountability and responsibility begins internally within each of us or it begins not at all.

Point your finger, blame who you want, the nanny didn’t do it, we did, and to ourselves.

I agree with you that accountability is personal. The TV though can not be used an excuse for the morals and values that are not taught by all parents. Kids don't grow up knowing how to be good people.... sometimes they learn, sometimes they... don't
